Rare Earth Magnesium Ferrosilicon Alloy

Introduction:

Rare earth magnesium ferrosilicon alloy, made of ferrosilicon, calcium, magnesium, rare earth and other materials by melting, is a spheroidizing agent with a strong deoxidation and desulfurization effect. Ferrosilicon, lanthanum-cerium metal or rare earth silicon, as well as metal magnesium are the primary raw materials for rare earth magnesium ferrosilicon alloy. The production of rare earth magnesium ferrosilicon alloy is carried out in the ore smelting furnace, which consumes a lot of electricity. It can also be produced in the intermediate frequency furnace.

Product Process

Ferrosilicon, lanthanum-cerium metal or rare earth silicon, as well as metal magnesium are the primary raw materials for rare earth magnesium ferrosilicon alloy. The production of rare earth magnesium ferrosilicon alloy is carried out in the ore smelting furnace, which consumes a lot of electricity. It can also be produced in the intermediate frequency furnace.

The product can be used as spheroidizing agent and nucleating agent.

Product Application

The products containing 4%, 5% or 5.5% magnesium belong to low magnesium spheroidizing agent, whose RE content is 1%-2%, mostly melted in the intermediate frequency furnace and and used for spheroidization of low sulfur liquid iron. It reflects a mild spheroidizing reaction and the spheroidizing elements are easy to absorb. The products containing 6% or 7% magnesium belong to medium magnesium spheroidizing agent, which is generally melted in the cupola furnace combined with electric furnace, or melted in the intermediate frequency furnace for the production of pearlite heat-resisting steel. The amount of spheroidizing agent is determined according to the wall thickness of the casting and sulfur content of the liquid iron, showing a wide application range and multiple spheroidization processes. High magnesium spheroidizing agent is suitable for cupola furnace smelting with an addition amount of 1.6%-2.0% for liquid iron containing 0.06%-0.09% sulfur. Low aluminum spheroidizing agent is applicable to castings prone to subsurface pinholes and castings with aluminum content requirements in liquid iron. For spheroidizing agent made of pure Ce or pure La, the liquid iron is clearer after spheroidization treatment and rounder graphite nodules are produced.

1. Rare earth magnesium ferrosilicon alloys can be shipped in bulk, containers, bags and other forms as required. The rare earth magnesium ferrosilicon alloys are included in the IMDG Code, thus its packaging is usually included in the export inspection. For bag packaging, 25kg plastic woven bags or ton container bags are used. Special attention should be paid to the representativeness of the samples taken during the inspection of goods packed in ton bags.

2. In storage and transportation, attention should be paid to separate storage and batch management.

Inspection standards

    The quality inspection and acceptance of the products shall be conducted in accordance with the GB/T3650-1995 Ferroalloys - General Provisions on the Packaging, Storage, Transportation, Marking and Quality Certificate.

    The sampling and preparation of samples for chemical analysis shall be carried out according to the GB/T4010-1994 Ferroalloys - Sampling and Preparation of Samples for Chemical Analysis.

    The experiment on particle size shall be carried out in accordance with the GB/T13274-1991. The particle size requirements for export rare earth magnesium ferrosilicon alloys are: standard particle size: 5-25mm, 5-30mm, or others as required by customers.

    Weight survey shall be carried out in accordance with SN/T0188-1993 Rules for the Weighting Survey of Import and Export Commodities - Weighing Survey by Scale.

 

Inspection and supervision method

The current export inspection of rare earth magnesium ferrosilicon alloy is divided into two ways.

1. Lot-by-lot field inspection (batch-by-batch inspection);

2. Classification management inspection and supervision.

Particle size and packaging

Rare earth magnesium ferrosilicon alloy is a gray-black solid using ferrosilicon as the raw material and adding calcium, magnesium and rare earth with an optimum collocation ratio for a steady reaction. The casting thickness of each grade of rare earth magnesium ferrosilicon alloy shall not exceed 100mm, and the standard particle sizes are 10-30mm and 15-30mm. Customers can specify special particle sizes for different uses, such as 1-4mm, 1-5mm, 5-15mm, 3-25mm, 8-40mm, and 25-50mm.
